Bizarro
Bizarro
ASCAP
Bizarro is one of those bands you need to see to believe. And you’ll want to see them after hearing this. Their self-titled EP (ASCAP, 2005) presents a near-unnerving amount of raw rock and savage guitar playing. This band sounds like the music that Scott Weiland could only dream about as he’s in a primal scream lesson with Ville Valo. In other words, it’s sexually charged and surely keeps the band at the top spot for Chicago’s most intense shows.

Track listing:

01 Wish
02 Memory
03 Pretty Animal
04 Mission Control
05 Shining

Opening track ‘Wish’ is a perfect explanation of that. It’s restless -- the vim and vigor is thrusted in your face. All instruments are head-on collision with each other -- the drums, the guitars, the bass, and the vocals are all grinding and forcibly loud – creating a hurricane of sound.

Lest the front man not go without mention. Aston Martin exudes sexuality in every aspect possible, from his provocative clothing to his roaring vocals and exclusive, charming personality. By the end of the EP you’ll be down to two decisions: Make plans to see the band live, or make plans to sneak backstage... Joining Martin is: Brian Nowhere and Lizard Kucera (lead/ rhythm guitars) Peter Wells (bass) and The Hammer (drums).

Bizarro does not want to be ignored, nor do they want to be forgotten. But with a hypnotic EP such as this, shrill guitar solos and screaming harmonies, it makes for driving rock that’ll have you go beyond the very limits you thought you had. It also serves as a rock solid promise that their shows will have you wrapped around their fingers by the end of the night.
