After hearing OASIS, by Darker My Love, all I could think was, "It's too bad Darker My Love was not around to open for T. Rex, or even earlier to kick the bejesus out of some hippies and cast a dark shadow over Haight-Ashbury." Maybe then all pop music today would be a little darker, and that much better for it. Oh well, back to the album..... Think, sequel to "Yellow Submarine", where the Blue Meanies and Applebonkers win and the soundtrack is done by Iron Butterfly and Syd Barrett. In fact, the cover art, by vocalist Tim Presley looks like Pepperland being devoured by a darker, more ominous vision, or escaping to a better, more colorful place, but I prefer the former. If you enjoy psychedelic music, but wish the lyrics were more in tune to the feverishly shaking tambourine, hard drum beats, and fuzzy, loud guitar, you will love this album. It is very well executed in a late 60's/early 70's style. Even if you do not care for freak-outs or dance with your arms in the air like an idiot, you need to at least hear this album.
