Give Me a Wall, from ¡Forward, Russia! is an album that smacks of The Rapture, but without the horns and 70’s hand clapping feeling. It actually sounds like The Rapture, and also somewhat like Pulp. While this album is not real obtuse, or introspective, but it is very good at evoking memories of general experiences. The songs are raw and relative to everyday experiences, so it is accessible to most any audience. There are times that this album has an 80’s feel, but it doesn’t last very long, because it is also very fresh and exciting. Overall, it is a very good album, and you can check out a few tracks at www.forwardrussia.com. The album is released through Mute records, which gives you a good indication that it is a good album, because Mute doesn’t typically bother with the mediocre. This album is not a waste of your money, and would be a great addition to your party mix. That’s the skinny.
