Joe Patrick
All The Walls
|
All The Walls, the much anticipated follow-up to Joe's 2005 EP, Whiskey Drown, delivers everything Whiskey Drown promised. Hard hitting foot tapping drum beats, bold bouncing guitar chords, and Joe's voice, a fusion of Jeff Tweedy of Wilco, and Mike Ness of Social Distortion, belting out heartfelt melodies. Melodies about the rural pursuit of the American dream, namely love, money, and success in general, documenting all of the detours and distractions encountered that make the hard work that much harder along the way.
This album is full of songs outlining the things you can't change, like industry in “The Flint Song,” the things you can change like self-destructive behavior in Whiskey Drown, and the things you should be able to change, but never could, like falling for a certain person in “Bottle Cap.” You will be able to relate to these songs, regardless of where you are from; this album will just put you in a Midwest state of mind. Every one of these songs are well-crafted, catchy, and sincerely delivered, from track one, all the way through lucky thirteen.
If groups like Wilco and the Wallflowers merit fame and fortune, then Joe Patrick certainly deserves his fair share. For more on Joe Patrick, see my review of Whisky Drown or go to joepatricksmusic.com.
