The Perishers Let There Be Morning
Nettwerk
The Perishers have a way with words. With the release of their
full-length,
Let There Be Morning (Nettwerk, 2005), theyve brought forth lyrics
contrived from deep thought and constant deliberation, with a piano to
help
carry the weight.
Track listing:
01 Weekends
02 Sway
03 A Reminder
04 My Heart
05 Nothing Like You And I

10 Let There Be Morning
From "Weekends" to "Let There Be Morning," this album is replete of
inspirational music for those who need a lift. Theyve gone through the
hard
times and theyve come to give guidance and a little solace put to
instrumentalisation. Not only is the will to instill hope from within
notable, but it is felt.
Lead singer Ola Klüft covers everything from the workforce, to love and
death to changing for the better. On "A Reminder," he comes off
sounding
like a tiresome Bruce Springsteen, but for the most part, he is
isolated
vocally, and un-placeable among other artists.
Hit single "Sway" is the most winsome of all the tracks. Klüft sings
about
searching for reassurance and comfort in a loved one, and all the while
this
tune serves as a perfect song to find that loved one to enjoy it with.
This
is the type of music that can soundtrack one of those work weeks that
seem to
last much longer, as it tries to shed light on the positive.
The bare truth makes it way out in "Pills:" "One may think/were
alright/But
we need pills/to sleep at night/We need lies/to make it through the
day/Were not ok." The time in this track is taken to explain the
horrible
reality of being older and life in general, and all the maskings we
endure
and place upon ourselves in order to make it.
The Perishers are as entrancing as Coldplay, but even more honest about
the
truth to life, and this ability to not hide from reality creates an
incredible down-to-earth feeling that resonates from their music.
Once again, the Umeċ, Sweden band is Klüft (vocals/guitar), Martin
Gustafson
(keyboards/backing vocals), Pehr Ċström (bass), and Thomas Hedlund
(drums).
