The most evident is MC5, because Mon Electric Bijou's music runs thick with that basic loud, rock-n-roll sound. I suspect an unnamed influence is Guided By Voices, because the overall style of the music reminds me of a more heartfelt and sexy early GBV (plus he thanks Robert Pollard in the liner notes). This is a great album, it makes you want to dance like Elaine from Seinfeld. It is brimming with subtle sexual reminders that it is French-Canadian, one example of this is Martin Saz's delivery style which is similar to Jarvis Cocker's (of Pulp) sexy and dramatic style. I urge you to learn more about this band at www.monelectricbijou.com and then purchase the album from www.matchboxrecordings.co.uk.
