Victory Records

I don't know if it was a contractual thing, where they had to make an album this year but only had one new song, so they threw together 4 live songs and one studio song and released this EP, or what. Whatever the case is, I would only recommend getting this if you're a die-hard fan because while the tunes of the live songs are a little catchy and alright, the one studio song, "Jet Black New Year," which jumps between speed metalish guitar riffs to rock, is not good enough to buy the whole thing.

Track listing:

01 Autobiography Of A Nation (Live)
02 Understanding In A Car Crash (Live)
03 Standing On The Edge Of Summer (Live)
04 Paris In Flames (Live)
05 Jet Black New Year

The lyrics of the album are somewhat interesting, but not redeeming. I gathered from "Jet Black New Year" that the message is it's useless to make resolutions because we ultimately have "Jet Black blood in our veins" and are doomed to make the same mistakes, but really couldn't understand most so I may be missing the point. There is some good song-writing on this album and the singer's voice has some real appealing moxie. It's worth a listen if you can download it for no charge from a membership club like I did, because it is better than lots of the rock/alternative on mainstream radio.
