"I started taking pictures eight years ago in the area surrounding my hometown of Lenoir, North Carolina. Since then my collection has grown with my travels across North America and Europe.
"I’ve always been drawn to the abstract, so a lot of these photos communicate this attraction. My main intention is to shed new light on things and scenes we see every day through experimentation with composition, color and perspective. I believe in the importance of seeing the world around us with fresh eyes, so my goal is to show you the new without total loss of the familiar. Hope you enjoy them." -Adam Deal

"John Fancher, a born-n-bred Okie, got inspired to start taking pictures after a portrait session at Olan Mills, on the occasion of his third birthday.
"Was it something about the mesmerizing strobe flashes, mixing with the strong smell of developing chemicals, that slanted and enchanted a young mind? Is it the thought that holding time still is actually a possibility? Maybe it's just an excuse to feed voyeuristic tendencies without appearing like a felon?
"Whatever the excuse, documenting time and its corrosive penalties on the mind is honest entertainment. And for a victim of reoccuring head injuries, pictures serve as constant reminders of what memories should look like." -John Fancher

narrative drawings in sumi ink
S. Nees is a studio-trained artist living in Blacksburg, Virginia. Self-taught in 2D media, she began experimenting in sumi ink while learning stone sculpture in rural Japan in the 1990’s.
Her narrations are infused with a bittersweet humor, and incorporate haiku and story fragments with images of angels, dragons, spirits, monsters, mutants, women and little girls, all of whom share an inner life which is completely at odds with reality. Her characters alternate between rapture, wage slavery, desperate poverty, hyper-romantic love and magic as they navigate the dark and scary universe of modern alienation.
Satirical yet compassionate in nature, this work reflects a profound belief in individuality as well as a sharp impatience with cynical attitudes toward matters of intuition and faith.
